How I Got into Marketing

If you’re not entirely sure you’re comfortable becoming an online marketer in our community, maybe I can help ease the idea for you by explaining how I personally got into online marketing. I haven’t been part of the online community as long as many of the other people I’ve met through meetings, but they have helped me get a handle on many skills that have helped me become much better at advertising what you see on our sites.

As of the time I’m writing this, I haven’t gotten nearly as far as other people I’ve met during online meetings. Still, seeing how far they have come has proven that it is possible. Some of the biggest keys are simply time, patience and hard work. Eventually the effort becomes worth it in the end.

But I’m getting ahead of myself. To get back on track, let me tell you how I first got into online marketing.

How I Got My Start

Most of my life, I’ve never had a high-paying job, and I knew that needed to change. I’ve always enjoyed my freedom and have never been too keen on the idea of working under someone else’s hours. I’ve always spent a lot of time on the internet and thought that maybe there could be a career for me online. That idea was a key part of what originally got me into online marketing.

In addition, I knew that if another pandemic ever hit the world, I wouldn’t have to risk missing work. I searched online for career possibilities that would offer flexible hours and be simple enough to understand, but sadly, not too many looked all that promising too me. Eventually, while browsing YouTube videos, I came across ads that sounded like they might bewhat I was looking for.

The Searches That Led Me to Where I Am Today

The first few YouTube videos I saw that sounded promising almost sounded too good to be true. I don’t remember everything about those early videos, but they mainly offered ways to earn income online through copy-and-paste methods, which I already had a grip on. Of course, I wanted to make sure I wasn’t being led into some kind of online scam. I knew from experience that those kinds of bogus offers could pop up almost anywhere.

Luckily, my uncle was working on some government forms at the time and was happy to check things out to see if they were legit or if somebody was trying to pull my leg. It turned out the site I was mostly interested in was legit but would likely involve keeping tabs on the stock market. That wasn’t something I was too keen on doing to get by in life, so I dodged a bullet there.

Other ads I came across offered classes and ways to build your own websites to create a business. I wasn’t looking to build anything; I was mainly interested in finding a way to make an honest income online. Eventually, my family helped me find some top places online to make an income that better fit what I was looking for. Their help ultimately led me into online marketing.

The Calls

After searching through what my family found, I decided to go with the one that eventually led me to RRR247. This was the first step that got me into online marketing. After filling out my online credentials, I was in contact with one of the representatives. He told me about how things worked around here.

I’d never done anything like this, so naturally I was hesitant and had a lot of questions for him. He told me that they provide you with a website and a mentor to help you through things. Admittedly, I was still pretty hesitant. When the rep told me things I wasn’t sure about, one of us would call the other back later.

I was hesitant about the tuition fee but was assured we could slowly pay it off with a payment plan. I was assured that when I started making money, I could pay it back in maybe a week or two. After weeks of talks, the rep pointed out that we’d been going back and forth and not making any progress. My family and I decided it was finally time to go through with it and get me fully started.

Early Work with My Mentor

I’m not sure what his exact reason was, but due to all the talks and inquiries I had before I came into this gig, the representative I’d been in contact with suggested that my mentor was none other than the man that started this whole operation, Rory Ricard himself! Needless to say, I was both surprised and humbled by that. My mentor was the man at the top, and hopefully that meant I’d get through things a little more easily.

The first time I spoke with Rory on the phone, he sounded like an easygoing, likable guy. Rory told me we’d be working closely in a Zoom meeting in a day or so. I’d seen Zoom meetings before, but had never actually attended one, though it was simple enough to figure out. Rory walked me through everything I’d be working with. He showed me my own website and the main webpage where I could check things out, and he even shared a few special files that I’d be using for my work. I was also told about the weekly Zoom meetings everyone attended. Thankfully, I only had to attend the Tuesday update meetings for the time being since I was still new.

Modifying My Site

My first job was to edit things on my website, so it didn’t look like I was plagiarizing someone else’s work. Thankfully, Rory has all kinds of walkthrough videos on the main site. All I had to do was follow the assignment plans he gave me and the instructions in the videos. I won’t lie, a lot of those vids are pretty long. It took me a while to get through all the steps.

Unfortunately, whenever I ran into anything I didn’t understand, I’d get worried if I did something incorrectly, I’d have to start over. Whenever I ran into roadblocks like that, I just stopped in my tracks and tried to Contact Rory for help. Unfortunately, when your mentor is head of everything and likely has a lot of other people to help out, you can’t always expect an immediate response. I learned the hard way that the best way to keep in touch with someone in this field is through text, something I never really did a lot of until then.

After weeks of how-to videos and editing, my website modifications were pretty much done, and I was ready to go on to the next step: posting ads online. This was the marketing part that got me into online marketing.

Posting Ads

I’d never really advertised anything before and was naturally a bit unsure of what I was doing. After watching how it was done a few times in a Zoom meeting with Rory, I pretty much had the hang of it now and have been doing it ever since. At first, I only posted ads from a list Rory shared with everyone in a file. They weren’t much, just a few ads you could find in the shopping categories on advertising sites. For weeks, I posted the same types of ads on one of many free traffic sites you could access from the main triple R page, but eventually I learned I had to spread myself out if I wanted to get traffic to my site.

So, every day, I spend time on one of the traffic sites, writing new ads about the different offers found on my site. Almost every free advertising website has different requirements in order to post there. Some sites you even have to make an account for. It was tricky at first, but now I’ve got the hang of using some of the free advertising sites. Now, five days a week, I spend some time online posting ads and generating internet traffic for my website, using a different posting site each day, and using the weekends to take a break from it.

Even though I got the hang of posting ads, I occasionally run into a problem of some kind. Even though he’s my mentor, getting ahold of the guy at the top to help can be tricky. Thankfully, I soon learned about instructor meetings that happen on Wednesdays.

Instructor Meetings

The instructor meetings I learned about take place on Wednesday afternoons. Usually, a couple of people who have reached the instructor position (Rory frequently included) get together with several of the people that are having problems in one area or another and try to help each other out.

The instructor meetings have really been a big help to me in getting things to run a bit more smoothly. I personally run into quite a few issues I need help with. The main issue with these instructor meetings is that there are always several people that have an issue in one area or another, and there’s a fixed amount of time for the meetings, so there’s not always a guarantee you will get your chance to speak your mind. Don’t worry, they will get to you eventually and will be able to help you out, they’ve done wonders for me.

Thanks to these meetings, I’ve also learned new ways to get things like images and videos for my ads. I’ve also learned about a few tools on Windows that have helped me in my work, like copying and resizing smaller images.

Where I am Now

As of the time I’m writing this blog, I’m still working toward earning my first income online. Rory tells me the best way to start is by getting my website approved by Google AdSense, which I’m trying to get into now. I’m not kidding, they’re very strict about their requirements. I keep getting rejection notices. My seniors tell me something that can help is my site having some kind of original content, hence this blog. They also tell me that many people in our online community have had to do something similar. There are even meetings on Thursdays dedicated to it.

Eventually, after I’m approved for AdSense, I’ll move on to learning Trello and taking the next step in the process. Like I said earlier, this kind of job takes a lot of patience and hard work, but I can manage that. Where I am right now can be a bit tough, but when I look back at the progress I’ve already made, it reminds me to stay focused on the benefits I hope to earn in the future.

That’s pretty much my story of how I got into online marketing here. It wasn’t the first career choice I came up with, but so far, it’s been pretty simple and the people I’ve met online have been really helpful and great to work with. I hope my story has helped make the idea of becoming an online marketer feel a little more approachable as you’ve read along.
